Recipes

Hi there,
We had the most wonderful rainy, dreary, cloudy weekend. The type of weather that knitters love! I got out of my summer knitting slump by finishing up three simple dishcloths in autumn colors, all three in the bee stitch, using Peaches & Creme. Here's the recipe:

Size 6 needles
Cast on 39
For garter stitch borders, begin by knitting six rows. Then knit the first three and last three stitches of every row for the side borders.
Bee Stitch Pattern
Row 1: Knit
Row 2: k1, *k1 in stitch below, k1; repeat from * across
Row 3: Knit
Row 4: k2, k1 in stitch below, *k1, k1 in stitch below; rep from * to last 2 stitches, k2
Repeat these 4 rows until it is just about a square, then knit six rows. Cast off.

I also tried a new recipe, a bread featured in the September 2015 issue of Southern Living:
Pumpkin-honey-beer BreadI used Samuel Adams Harvest Pumpkin Ale for the beer.

Eveready vs. Humble

Hi there,
Jeff sent me a photo with his pen, taken on his campus. Best one yet!

I love nicknames, especially because I don't think I was given one in high school. No one calls me tamknots, of course, but I think of it as somewhat of a nickname. I'm TamCats in Fantasy Football, Typhoon Tammy in the Storm Spotters Squad, and I even made up a nickname for myself when I use Groupon . . . I'm TAM-pon (tampon??!)  lol

People who love me simply call me Tam.

I ran across this online quiz:  What would your Secret Service codename be?
Here's another one:  Generate your very own Secret Service codename
Interesting facts from Wikipedia:  Secret Service Codename

My results were pretty lame, so I thought I'd make up my own.

I would want my Secret Service codename to be . . .

the Lifeguard!

(My family will get the inside joke on this. That is a story for another day post!)

What would you choose as YOUR codename???

About that pen!

Hi there,
It all started at a restaurant. We were out to dinner with Suz & David, during one of Jeff's visits. When it was time to sign the credit card receipt, Dave needed a pen. So I pulled out my favorite one, a BIC 4-Color Grip. I haven't seen one of those since Junior High, exclaimed Dave. And then everyone proceeded to make fun of admire it.

Later in the fall, I attended a vendor fair where I discovered a new model, the InkJoy Quatro. I purchased a baker's dozen. So for Christmas 2014 everyone in my family and Susan's received one in their stockings.

Here's Susan's family on Christmas morning!

Those pens have traveled everywhere this year! Carol took hers home to Rhode Island. Bride Alexa had hers along on the honeymoon trip. Jeff had his with him on his study abroad to Great Britain, summer in Boston, and now back on his campus.

Suz took hers on the Italy trip!

We had ours with us for the beach vacation!

InkJoy has been a good way to describe it! I've given it a lot of thought, and I have come up with the office supply gift for Christmas stockings 2015.

. . . I can't wait!

Hut! Hut! Hike!

Hi there,
NFL!
We had our third annual Fantasy Football draft party last week on the gridiron at Susan and David's house.

My team owner name is TamCats. (The cheerleaders for the Carolina Panthers are the TopCats.)
-- get it?!

Free Agent and Eligible Receiver!
My son, "Breezy" Ben, is the League Commissioner and Champ of our first season. He was blindsided and pancaked last year by "Green Machine" Liv, who came in like a stealth bomber and beat out everyone.

Holding!
Reigning trophy holder Green Machine Liv
along with 1st season Champ Breezy Ben

Liv thought it would be cool to be-dazzle the trophy with jewels! If I ever win the League Super Bowl, it will get a knitted ensemble!

Team Owners!
We have some awesome team names, don't you think?

Omaha!
No one was allowed to keep a player on their team from last year except for me. I would #quitandgohome if they didn't allow me to keep Peyton as my quarterback. Peyton is practically like a son to me. I will be loyal to him until he no longer can play, which I'm sort of suspecting will be after this season! I've got some work to do for the rest of my roster.

Did you see the adorable photos of Peyton with his son?

Delay of game!
We each only had 45 seconds per round to make a draft decision. It got pretty intense as we tried to prevent encroachment of our picks.

"Wickit Good" Suz had some technical difficulties with her iPad and had to flea flicker into another room to her tri-screen desktop PC. She released some audibles, but this blitz may have upped her game as she was able to huddle in a quiet end zone.

Touchdown!
And of course there was bundt cake (Sept flavor of the month!)

"Bundts and BlountsJeff was there!

We love football season! Let me just end with cheers for my favorite team!
