Only attention and fanfare

first 2" of zick zack scarf

Hi there,
It's been such a great week at home! If you met me in person (for those of you who have not), you would find me friendly, nice, and not shy at all and sometimes even chatty in a one-on-one conversation. But what I hide very well is that I am extremely introverted. I need my alone time to recharge and feel at my best. So every now and again I need more than a weekend to be at home ALONE. I got out-and-about quite a bit this week (it is, after all, my birth month!) but I also spent many hours on my back deck and in the kitchen doing my favorite things, like knitting, cooking, and reading.

Tomorrow I return to work, bright and early. It will be okay; the students start returning this week, and I love the energy that returns to campus along with them. And a paycheck is a very good thing!

Thank you to my daughter Steph for the fabulous dinner she prepared for us in honor of my birthday. And also thank you to her additional guests, Mr. Awesome and Boyz for the lovely flowers and bottle of Riesling. There is nothing better in the summer than a chilled glass of Riesling on the deck after dark. I also was treated to a special lunch out with Steph during the week, which we rarely can find time to do because of work schedules.

My son Ben also treated me to lunch, and he invited THE MAYOR! Seriously, that is Jill, the MAYOR of our Town! So much fun! I even made her facebook page, WooHoo!

I told my family that I did not want gifts for my birthday, only attention and fanfare. lol!

Granddog Bear is with us this weekend. He enjoys sunbathing! We also have some rabbits living under our deck, but he hasn't figured that out yet.

While surfing through project pages on Ravelry, I stumbled upon a blog that I love by Christina in Glasgow, Scotland, called A colourful life. Her writing and phrases are delightful. It is so much fun to read about a family in a different part of the world, yet their lives seem very familiar to ours. Christina made a beautiful zick zack scarf.

Happy mid-August to everyone!

xoxo Tammy
